Type n Walk ★★☆☆☆ ($.99 / App Store) for the iPhone is a text writing app designed specifically for typing while walking. A few minutes in a crowded city will reveal how many people walk dangerously with their head down looking at their smartphone typing away. Type n Walk in theory should alleviate this modern epidemic by having a transparent canvas - it looks like your looking through the camera while typing so you can see your path in front of you. It can compose and send SMS, emails and Tweets or simply copy the text to paste for later use. Two major missing elements keep this from being a 4 star app; the keyboard itself is completely opaque and there is no landscape mode.
Cyborg Vision ★★★★★ ($.99 / App Store) for the iPhone and iPad is an augmented real-time facial recognition app that mimics the Terminator’s (film) vision. Cyborg Vision actually has some great function and uses. Tied to Facebook, when you scan a human’s face, it will look up their profile and gives you an on screen analysis with details like; name, hometown, gender, birthday, location and even if they are currently smiling or not. It also has the iOS devices current latitude and longitude. All the animations and user interface is done extremely well and some updates could make this app even better.
Tweet Speaker ★★★☆☆ ($1.99 / App Store) for the iPhone is a Twitter app that speaks tweets to you in a digital voice. If you are a big Twitter user and find yourself reading to countless lines of tweets while multitasking or sitting in your car in traffic, Tweet Speaker may be quite useful to you. Developed with a top notch and beautiful user interface, each “tweet box” moves to the next as each tweet is read out loud as well as an animated timeline below. The digital voice however (even with adjustable speed) is not the most pleasant voice nor the most clear.
Verbs IM ★★★★☆ ($.99 / App Store) for the iPhone and iPad is a minimal instant messaging client for GTalk, Facebook, AIM and MobileMe. Verbs is easily the prettiest multi-messaging app available for iOS but its not all just looks. Although one of the big features of Verbs is it’s simple and elegant style, its just as useful as the others available that are more expensive or free. Upgrade to Pro will allow push notifications and lets you log in for 7 days straight.
Tweetbot ★★★★★ ($2.99 / App Store) for the iPhone is the most innovative, beautiful and modern Twitter app available. Although the official Twitter app (free) is nearly flawless, Tweetbot far exceeds it - but it’s not free. So if your going to buy a Twitter app, this is the one. Tapbots, the creators, are well known for there sexy and sleek user interfaces and Tweetbot is no different. Even the sound effects, animation and the touch gestures are superb.
