Lane Splitter ★★★☆☆ ($.99 / App Store) for the iPhone and iPad is a motorcycle arcade mini game. The idea is simply to ride through the highway with varying traffic and speed including police chases and go as far as possible - and endless type of game. You use the accelerometer to steer and tap on the screen to speed up of which the controls are perfect. Graphics are well done with a smooth frame rate with nice sound effects. Lane Splitter is great for short burst gaming and can be very addictive.
Mobile Mouse ★★★★☆ ($1.99 / App Store) for the iPhone is a tool that let lets you use your iPhone or iPod touch as a wireless mouse for any PC or Mac computer. All this app needs to work is a server program on the computer (free) and a Wi-Fi connection - and its all very easy to install and use. Mobile Mouse gives you all the features of what a regular mouse can do but with much more. You can even type with it so it doubles as a keyboard.
Roll It Up ★★★☆☆ ($1.99 / App Store) for the iPhone is a virtual smoking and rolling machine app. Using great photorealistic 3D rendered images Roll It Up does an incredible job to simulate not just the hand rolling process but smoking a joint as well. You can use multi-touch to roll the joint and the accelerometer as well as the microphone to smoke it up. The app currently only uses tobacco leaves which looks nice but I’m sure many of the app downloaders are wishing for some green weeds and different type of rolling materials. Great for what it is, an entertainment app.
Color Splash ★★★★☆ ($.99 / App Store) for the iPhone is a photography app that lets you remove color from any photograph so that only the area you want is colored. Almost seems magical but anyone can use it with great results with out the complexity or knowledge required with something like Photoshop. When you first load an image it starts out black and white, then you touch / rub the areas you want the color to come back to. Color Splash works great because of the well designed multi-touch user interface that is very accurate and a joy to use.
Jets - Flight & Seat Advisor ★★★☆☆ ($2.99 / App Store) for the iPhone is a visual guide to most airline jet seats. Its like a handy seating chart for commercial planes with tips, cons, pros and other details to help you decide the best seat and area to book. Although very well designed with a slick user interface, the flight board feature is unstable and data for Delta is consistently incorrect. But if your a frequent flyer, this deserves a spot on your iPhone - a great companion to the Flight Card app.
HighFlyer DeathDefyer ★★☆☆☆ ($4.99/ App Store) for the iPhone and iPad is a third person sky diving action game. Despite the fancy graphics and extensive story line, this game is plagued with too many problems. Arguably the most important factor in a video game is control, which this lacks regardless of the different set up options available - its horrible. Each level is identical to the last, in fact, after each level your left wondering if you died and restarted the level or if its a new one. As of this review, this game is not recommended, perhaps in an update or two.
