Momento ★★★★★ ($2.99 / App Store) for the iPhone and iPod Touch is the perfect journal / diary writing app for any mobile device. An amazingly well done writing app so good it will make you think and find reasons to fill Momento up with your thoughts. Writing is one thing and this app goes far to add to that with useful keyword tagging (even people), marking locations, adding relevant photos and easily browsable entries. The user interface is powerful, classy and beautiful all around. Other features include password protection, ability to rate “moments” and everything is fully searchable.
Scanner Pro ★★★★★ ($6.99 / App Store) for the iPhone and iPod touch is an image and document scanner. Like an actual scanner the size of a printer, but an app inside your iOS device. Obviously Scanner Pro doesn’t have quite the same results as a regular scanning machine but for what it is, it’s quite an amazing app if you need one. You can scan multiple page documents, greatly increase image quality, set custom sizes, upload scanned files to the cloud for later use and it even saves the scans as industry standard PDF files. Of all the scanner apps on the App Store, this is the clear winner.
Yoga STRETCH ★★★☆☆ ($.99 / App Store) for the iPhone and iPod touch is a Yoga guide app. Yoga STRETCH is like a personal Yoga instructor walking you through both custom and pre-loaded exercise sessions with soothing voice audio commentary, beautiful images and perfectly suiting music (with the option of using your own music). Yoga STRETCH is easy use and anyone can start using it right away. It will work as an excellent companion to starting beginners and Yoga masters. The only thing keeping this from being a 4 or 5 star app is that it is not retina display made.
Jetpack Joyride ★★★★☆ ($.99 / App Store) for the iPhone and iPad is a highly addictive 1 button endless side scrolling game. Another instant classic iOS game from the makers of the smash hit Fruit Ninja. Using the same game mechanics as the first great game of its kind, Canabalt, the objective is to advance forward as far as possible, using just 1 finger, 1 button. Jetpack Joyride is quite advanced however with an incredible amount of upgrades, objectives, outfits and all sorts of different “suits” to make your way through. Its a really fun and haha funny game that’s great for short burst gaming or even marathon play sessions.
MotionX GPS Drive ★★★★★ ($.99 / App Store) for the iPhone is a next-generation car and pedestrian navigation app. Typically GPS devices are at least 2 decimal points to the right from MotionX Drive’s $.99 cents price tag and many are still not as good - not to mention ongoing prices with continued use. This app costs less than 1 dollar and your free to use as much as you want. However, the Live Voice Guidance feature (great addition but still a great GPS tool without) will cost you $9.99 - a YEAR, not month. That is an incredible deal! As for the app design and control - its excellent and beautifully made which makes you wonder if this app is too good to be true.
Aelios Weather ★★★★☆ ($4.99 / App Store) for the iPad is a beautiful and unique weather app. There are dozens and dozens of weather apps available for the iOS but Aelios is one of the best looking with features not found elsewhere. The look and feel of the app is like that of a “Switch watch” and kind of functions like one as well. Viewing weather in different parts of the world is a joy to explore with the nicely integrated map that can be moved around or pinched like Google Maps. Two weather sources available: AccuWeather and the Norwegian Meteorological Institute.
